Prayer Process

FAQ

Why is Pastor Brad leaving?
In the process of a lot of prayer and fasting, Brad felt a stirring from the Spirit to shift away from Pastoral ministry and back to counseling. This is due in part to the completion of his doctorate in Marriage and Family Counseling and in the evaluation of his ministry gifts and calling. He knows this is God's timing to transition away.

Will Pastor Brad and Judy continue to attend Christ's Place?
No. Brad and Judy desire that the next Lead Pastor have complete freedom to lead Christ's Place forward.

When is Pastor Brad's last Sunday?
July 27, 2008

Who makes the decision about who replaces him at Christ's Place?
The authority to search for candidates and present them to the church resides with the Executive Leaders - the group of lay leaders affirmed by Participating Members including; Dana Baker, Karen Bowling, Jerry Christensen, Joel Cornwell, and Gary Hassebrook.

We are forming a search committee in partnership with the Executive Leaders and will keep the church body updated throughout the process.

How long will it take to get a new lead pastor?
The search process will officially begin on July 1 and it is anticipated to take anywhere from 3-6 months. Executive Leaders are committed to finding a qualified candidate and excellent fit with Christ's Place. We will bring someone in to serve as an Interim Pastor to help us during the transition process.

Who can have a voice regarding who our new lead pastor is?
All voices can be heard at the meeting on Sunday, June 22 at 6 pm. Anyone can also provide feedback. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please fill out the online form on this website or by filling out at comment card at the Welcome Center. The Executive Leader team will process through those.

When it comes to making final selection of the new Lead Pastor, Executive Leaders will present a potential candidate who must receive a vote of 80% by Participating Members. If you wish to become a Member at Christ's Place you must attend the Introduction to Membership class.

What happens to the current staff?
By Constitution and Bylaws, all Pastoral Staff are required to submit letters of resignation to Executive Leadership upon resignation of the Lead Pastor. Executive Leaders will review them as the process evolves and determine what to do. At this point, we do not anticipate any changes to coordinators, directors and support staff.

Will the search for a Business Administrator and Worship Director continue in the lead pastor transition?
We are setting aside the Worship Pastor search until a Lead Pastor is affirmed, so that he can be involved in that process. We are still looking at what will be done with the Business Administrator position.

Will things change at Christ's Place? What ministry areas will be impacted?
Our vision, purposes and values will not be changed. We will continue to do ministry and staff the church according to those. Some ministries may shift once a new Lead Pastor is selected.

Who do I go to with questions?
Please submit any additional questions you have via this website which will be distributed to Executive Leaders or staff. Pastoral Staff are not involved in the search process, so they will not be able to specifically answer questions regarding that.
